ABOUT THE COLLECTIONS

About the collections
Traces of Achmat Dangor can be found in archival collections scattered across South Africa’s archival landscape. For example, Achmat’s security branch file is housed at the Central Archives Depot of the National Archives and Records Services of South Africa in Pretoria, Tshwane. He is also present in the papers of the Kagiso Trust and the United Democratic Front some of which form part of the End the Conscription Campaign collection in the custody of Historical Papers Research Archives of the University of the Witwatersrand. Achmat is most visible in the papers of the Nelson Mandela Foundation housed at the same institution. The ADLP has created two new collections in the course of its work namely the Achmat Dangor Papers and the Oral History Collection, housed at Wits, which bring these collections together.
