About the Achmat Dangor Legacy Project

The ADLP records the life and times of Achmat Dangor by:

  • cataloguing, preserving and digitising archival items (such as paper documents and photographs) that form part of the Achmat Dangor Papers;
  • building an oral history collection and developing a narrative of Achmat Dangor’s life as told by the many people, including family members, friends and colleagues, that interacted with and were part of Achmat’s life;
  • enabling a literary prize in Achmat’s name to support creative writers; and
  • designing and maintaining this website for the purposes of drawing attention to existing and accessible archival materials, presenting snippets from the oral history interviews, encouraging writers to enter the literary prize and preserving Achmat’s legacy in general.
